Plenty of things happening in Angeles City and I wanted to share with you my latest views on some minor and other major happenings in the world of bars, girls, discos, raids and
TWO typhoons passing by in one month.
Octobers Big News in Angeles City Pampanga, Philippines from a
FOREIGN perspective
Mark returns to Touch of Class on November 2nd 2016 - Great newsAfter all the ups and downs, medical problems and fund raisers it is with immense pleasure for us to announce that Mark will be returning to TOC on November 2nd 2016.
You may or may not know this already but English Mark (ex Angelwitch, LIA, Voodoo, Emotions/TOC, Night Moves, Chelsea supporter) has been very sick recently. He has been struggling to breathe basically and finally went to Medical City to get some checks as he had been suffering from a severe chest infection, weakness, etc etc. Anyway, he has pneumonia combined with emphysema, COPD and other chest problems so has been really struggling to breathe to the point where he was close to deaths door. He was therefore been admitted to Medical City Clark for a few days to get his energy levels back up and pneumonia under control so that he can breathe properly again, he was released after 4 days and had a bill of over 96 thousand pesos and no salary for the lost hours where he has been absent from work.
Luckily for Mark there was a collection in Touch of Class and big donations from readers of PI at Night and Philippine Addicts (not all mongers are bad...)
Please make sure you can spare a moment to visit Mark on his first day at work and help him to show the owners of the bar what a great choice they have made by welcoming him back to work.
Typhoons affecting peoples families in less developed towns nearby Angeles CityRecent typhoons breezed through Angeles City with major rain storms but little damage occurred leaving people relieved and able to get on with their daily work and tasks without much interruption to their schedules. Many schools and Airports were closed on Thursday 19th October and many rural areas were damaged. Our thoughts go out to all the families affected and hope government are able to provide shelter and assistance to any families in need of support as a result of the Typhoons.
Rain or Shine the bars are always open for businessThe bars are rarely closed in Angeles City during key drinking hours and no matter the weather owners do their best to provide a service to the community and an ability to earn a salary for the waitresses and dancers employed by the bars. Many bar owners should be commended for on occasion putting the bar ahead of their own personal health or safety.
Good looking girls are hidden in Korean bars and KTV'sFor guys wondering what happened to Angeles City in recent years as it has become apparent that the Western owned and Filipino owned and Managed bars seem to have line ups of girls that are less pleasing on the eye than 5-10 years ago. Actually the hot girls are still around but have changed their preference to Korean and Japanese guys due to their ability to spend money and shower girls with gifts. There are still many wealth white guys in Angeles but many of the local expats are living on their military pensions and others spending their savings that need to last 20-30 years therefore meaning many guys are priced out of the market at the top end where the Koreans are shopping.

The average cost of a take out from a Korean bar is 2500 which is similar to Western Bars like Q Bar, Angel Witch, Lollipop or Viking. But the quality is just so different, I invite people to go and visit Day Bar, Lipstick or Girls Generation on the extended perimeter between Horizon condominiums and Clarkton Hotel. On Walking Street Aura, I
❤Color and Apple Bar have really spent time recruiting and retaining their best girls in order to be competitive with Dollhouse, Centauro and Atlantis bars who retain a large following despite mixed line ups.
KTV's in Angeles are home to girls who like to sing with Koreans and Japanese guys and then are free to use their rooms however they see fit, Top KTV's in Angeles City have recruited some stunning girls and give guys the privacy to play with girls without getting caught in public.
Fire Pit Raid is hopefully a "ONE OFF" rather than a beginning of a trendThe recent raid on Fire Pit that is yet to re-open has caused a lot of worry among bar owners, managers and bar girls right across Angeles. The bar was regarded the most popular bar on the Perimeter and the owners have the best they can to keep other group bars Eruptions and New Orange fully staffed aswell as Fire Pit sports. It just shows that there is a worrying lack of communication between the authorities and the bars on standards and requirements, I for one would be happy for the bars to be regulated and to be regularly checked with managers and owners responsible for Underage or Trafficked girls however if a girl sees an advert in the window and applies for a job dancing or serving drinks this should not be classified as trafficking or entrapment.
Lets hope with Christmas only 2 months and a bit away all bars remain open and girls safe.
TTKD festival will be good for music lovers but annoying to regular bar hoppersTTKD 2015 was a record breaking music festival in Angeles City with over 100,000 people partying in what is a celebration within the local Filipino community with areas such as Nepo Mall, Astro Park, Street areas on Walking Street and Fields Avenue near Skytrax affected. Western guys are advised to carry less money and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
The Kandi Towers experienceInterestingly Flora Street is a different place than it was 5-6 years ago in Angeles City, it was an area that was hidden away and the area was somewhat underappreciated and today 2016 there are some incredible developments in place on the Back of Kandi Suites long term plan to build a expat community of residents from all over the world living in luxurious but affordable accommodation in Angeles City, the development of Kandi from what was a 9 condo development to now being a business responsible for developing over 130 condo units and the majority of them are sold out resulting in Kandi Towers being their latest success story. The next tower is already under development and is 99% subscribed as we speak and I am sure Mark and Frazer have their eyes on Phase 3 and 4 before they are done.
Its worth noting that the initial success of Kandi inspired many developers to take a look at the surrounding areas away from Fields and the Perimeter areas that were always quite expensive and high profile for such projects to make sense, Now we have Prime Asia Hotel, Ambassador Suites, Affinity Condo and at the North of the Perimeter there is Horizon. The standard of Kandi is what makes it different, Artistic designs and bright interiors keeping rooms looking refreshing and stylish and now people visiting town for one month, one year or to live have great options away from expensive hotels such as Widus or Lewis Grand that lack the same level of sophistication.
ABC need to up their food gameAngeles City's best hotel since the day it opened and still in 2016 nothing has changed, the hotel famous for its luxury rooms and amazing furniture has moved to the next level with its latest extension to the hotel with their Fiesta Suites costing upto 19500 pesos for one night and for 2 bedroom 26000 and 4 bedroom 52000 pesos a night, the standard is just EXCEPTIONAL and the design, care for what customers need all in pure luxury especially within Angeles City Standards.
The one thing letting ABC down is not the service in their restaurants its the food, For such a great place the food menu is average at best. The Baby Back ribs are 700 pesos and tiny, their dishes dont en-capture the imagination and as a result people tend to go to RBI for a steak or to Amore Mio and Al Bacio for Italian food and for Filipino BBQ they go to Ikabud for example. The menu is okay the quality is okay but the taste and price does not match the quality of overall.
I would imagine ABC revenue on food would go up a great deal if they offered Korean dishes like Samgyeopsal, Soondubu Jiggae and Bibimbap for example, Big Burgers and Pizza's and Italian dishes made with love and some Indian/Thai dishes and why not a Filipino BBQ option. Lets face it everyone loves ABC and im sure they already make a lot of money but why not get their food and dining offering upto a high standard and even more people will be visiting and spending money rather than giving it to a competitor.
Lewis Grand Swimming pool paint going on customers hands and feetLewis Grand is a decent hotel with great rooms, a few air conditioning problems and friendly staff but the latest challenge for management appears to be their Swimming pool. It was reported around 6 months ago that the pool was looking old and paint had come off at the bottom of the pool due to the chemicals and amount of regular use by visitors and guests. Recently they have tried to paint the pool with special paint but actually it appears to be attaching itself to the feet and hands of many people using the pool. There may come a time where LGH think about draining the pool and refurbishing the pool so that people can swim safely without getting dirty.
A Pink Bar - UpdateSeems to have kicked off well enough, the bar has a good line up for its early stage and girls seem open to Western and Japanese/Korean guys. I noticed that girls in A Pink Bar are very keen to drink and have fun with guys and I recommend people give it a try and you may end up with a decent girl that you are certain not to see in Det5 or Gentlemans for example.
Day Bar (Hole in One) - UpdateThe bar has received a lot of good press and some of the towns big spenders have taken to the bar quite quickly. They seem to have taken a few girls from the clutches of
LAS VEGAS (really should be called
LAST VEGAS) bar. Many Koreans seem to like Jamaica who is a leggy Filipina with a naughty side and she is known to be a performer although quite high maintenance. There seems to be a number of decent girls on offer so guys pop in and see what hidden gems you can discover.
Bar Hoppin gets renamed as ROUTE 69... (wasn't that a SUBIC bar)In what I hope to be a positive move, Bar Hoppin has been renamed Route 69. I have never been a big fan of Bar Hoppin as it was always quite an easy to forget bar where simply nothing happened. The location of this bar being slightly out of the way is a massive disadvantage when trying to attract the Perimeter and Fields walking trade instead a limited crowd are likely to visit Bar Hoppin (or now Route 69) unless they develop a strong line up. Now on the positive side Route 69 employed some of the hottest girls in Subic where a very young Christina and Jackie used to work before Christina transferred into Q Bar and became the most popular girl I have ever known in High Society (Both of those girls are now in relationships and are out of the single market so guys back off them)
